Local Attractions
The Activities section gives you a a range of suggestions as to where you could go or what you could see.
Here are some of our favourites.
1. Walk down to Kynance Cove and explore its beauty (best at low tide).
2. Visit the Helford River and take a boat out from St. Antony or Helford. Or walk along Frenchman's Creek, immortalised by Daphne Dumaurier in her novel of that name.
3. Step back in time and visit the Iron Age Fogou (man made cave) at Trelowarren.Then go on to the estate and visit the beautiful medieval manor house.
4. Walk down to Poltesco Cove near Kennack, then walk along the cliffs to Cadgwith and have a drink at the pub there.
5. Walk across Goonhilly Downs, a site of special scientific interest with some of the rarest plants in England on its internationally important heathland. The downs back onto Polcoverack. There are also many Bronze Age burial mounds, standing stones, hut circles and field systems to discover.
6. Try and spot the national bird of Cornwall, the Chough with its red beak. Extinct for many years it has been reintroduced near the Lizard Point and can be viewed there.
7. Have a proper Cornish Pasty, either from St. Keverne Stores, or from the internationally renowned Anne's Pasties in Lizard Village.
8. Have a proper Cornish Cream Tea at Roskilly's.
9. Visit the Five Pilchards Inn at Porthallow and see their collection of Shipwreck Artefacts rescued from the local Manacle Rocks.
10. Visit the Loe Pool near Helston, rumoured to be where Arthur threw Excalibur.
